Single leaf folded vertically to form (4) pp. Elaborate pictorial title-page. Folded: 9-3/8" x 7-1/2" The Gaiety Theatre, The Strand, London, was where Dickens saw his last play in 1869. This production of The Battle of Life was edited for the stage by Charles Dickens Jr. and starred prominent actors John Lawrence Toole (1830-1906) as Ben Britain, and Ellen Farren (1848-1904) as Clemency Newcombe. The play opened on December 26, 1873. No library holdings found on OCLC. Scarce. Age toning and light chipping to edge, 3 small cello-tape repairs to rear leaf spine edge. A VG copy.
