A VG+ copy, minor An extract from the report of Frederick N. Knapp, Superintendent of Special Relief, read at the quarterly meeting of the Board of the U.S. Sanitary Commission, Washington, D.C. April 20, 1865. Knapp recounts first from first hand observations and letters from Dr. C. R. Agnew describing the "wretchedness and destitution" of the Union prisoners, exchanged or patroled from the Rebel prisons. The report describes several encounters with the prisoners they encountered, and the barbarity they suffered under.
