The fore-edge of the book is also marred by several wormholes, the two deepest of them about 3/8-inch; the others very shallow test borings. None of them come close to the text. This is the only biography, now very scarce, of this noted American impressionist painter, best known for his paintings of the Hudson Palisades, and also important as the founder of the Country Sketch Club, which spawned several successful artists.
