A very good tight binding with an interesting provenance. pp.20/pp.216/[4pp. - Adverts]. Decorated cloth binding, corners bumped. Spine sunned with slight loss to top of spine. Large bookplate to the verso of the front board by "J. G. Withycombe.": "Ex Libris Maude Bentley.". Second bookplate to front endpaper for "Francis Garnham". Small neat signature to top of front endpaper: "Myles Birket Foster". Presumed to be Myles Birket Foster, F.R.A.M. The eldest son of the artist (to which this book is dedicated). Clean throughout with with 73 colour & 20 b&w illustrations, plus many smaller drawings within the text. Coloured plates with titled tissue guards. Small bookseller's label to recto of rear board: "The Time (Book Club) 376-384 Oxford Street London."
