No illustrations, text only. 9-1/2" x 6" Catalogue from an exhibition by the Society for Sanity in Art, an organization dedicated to the rejection of modernism in art, in the original postmarked envelope addressed to one of the exhibiting artists, Alexander N. Balakhnin. The Society was founded in Chicago in 1936 by Josephine Hancock Logan, and soon spread nationwide; San Francisco became one of its major branches. The exhibition featured oil paintings, water colors, pastels, miniatures, sculpture, jewelry, and etchings, prints and drawings. Artists include Alexander N. Balakhnin, John A. Cusanovich, William F. Dabelstein, Louis Heinzman, Babette Fickert, George Dement Otis, Charles F. Holden, Percy Gray, Adele stover, Alice Grand-Gostony, and more. Scarce. We find no copies of this year's exhibition on OCLC or in the trade. Small stain to front wrapper from slightly oxidized envelope clasp; staples of binding rusted, not affecting pages. Internally clean and crisp. Light general wear to envelope. VG+.
