London: Duckworth and Co, 1913. 1st Edition [Roberts A3], ARC. Blue cloth with publisher's device stamped in blind to rear board, t.e.g. gilt stamped lettering to front board and spine. [8], lxiii, [1] pp. 8vo. 8-7/8" x 6-1/8". Ex university library with only a small, one-line name stamp to head of Contents pg; no other library markings. Faint publisher's stamp to title pg, dated 20 Feb, 1913. Spine lightly sunned, with very faint sunning to board edges; light bumping and wear to spine ends; light toning to endpapers; front gutter a bit tender and very slightly starting. Withal, a VG copy. Advance review copy of Lawrence's third book and first book of poetry, with faint "To Be Published On" stamp with publication date to title page. This copy with the "i" present in line 16, p xlv; no priority established between variant issues. "These are the poems of Lawrence's youth, the Nottingham and Croydon years, and in them one sees the women he knew before he went away with Frieda. Jessie Chambers, Helen Corke, Louie Burrows and perhaps others unnamed appear in the poetry" (Roberts 14).
