Handsome sole printing of this speech, published as "Supplement to Lincoln Herald, June, 1941," referencing Lincoln Memorial University's highly-regarded monthly Lincoln studies magazine. Bullard (1866-1952) was a minister and noted Lincoln scholar (1866-1952) who won the 1927 Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Writing for a "Boston Herald" column about the Sacco and Vansetti case. This copy with choice autograph adition: Tipped to the inside front wrapper is a lovely Autograph Note Signed, 1p, 6¼" X 9 3/4", Boston, MA, 26 May 1941. Addressed to Arnold F. Gates (1914-93), noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar who self-published a few pamphlets of poetry and Lincoln essays in the late 1930s/early 1940s. Near fine. Two faint original horizontal folds. On letterhead of "The Boston Herald," Bullard offers to "send stamps for the new Amberglow.. I've delayed writing too long, but I appreciate your remembering me.." Boldly penned in black ink. .
