Mild edgewear and faint rubbing; overly tight inner hinges; pencilled 1899 nonauthorial gift inscription on front flyleaf. A tight, quite nice first edition of this "Flag of Freedom Series" title, which issued the first three volumes in 1899 and three more up until 1902. Author/publisher Edward Stratemeyer (1862-1930 -- Bonehill was one of his many pseudonyms) was an obscenely prolific scribbler of juvenile fiction. .
