A tight, attractive first edition of this "new mystery" penned pseudonymously by the incredibly prolific Frank Gruber (1904-69). Teases the front jacket flap, "Meet as Salty a Pair of Private Detectives as Ever Shook Down a Client -- Otis Beagle and Joe Peel," a couple of ambulance-chasing West coast gumshoes. Rather scarce. .
