- A collection relating to Morpeth News Room, established 1859, which appears to have evolved into the Morpeth Men's Mutual Instruction Association in October 1862.

Small 4to ruled notebook containing detailed yearly accounts from May 1859 to May 1893 together with annual lists of members running, non-consecutively at the rear of the volume, from session 1875/6 to session 1893/4. After the accounts for 1861/2 are two-and-a-half pages of detailed rules of the Association in 12 sections. Contemporary brown cloth with later unlettered linen-backed spine. Boards rubbed and soiled; free endpapers partly soiled and chipped. Loosely inserted at the rear is a collection (c.60 pieces) of ephemera comprising engraved and other bill-heads, receipts, letters andaccounts. Of particular interest is a printed copy of the society rules (G. Flint, Bridge Street, Morpeth), c.1880 and six printed programme cards from 1887 to 1892. TEMPORARILY REMOVED REOM ABE AUGUST 2021
