Bank of California - BLOTTER / TRADE CARD. "First Immigrant Train" [San Francisco]: , (n. d.). White card printed in blue and black ink. Black and white reproduction of a wood engraving of the travelers from Missouri on their way to the West. 3-7/8" x 8-7/8". A VG+ card. In the autumn of 1840 more than 500 people in Missouri signed a pledge for a trip accross the plains, and to be ready to start in May 1841. In the end, only a group of 48 men & 15 women and children from Kansas, New York and Arkansas made the trip and arrived at the foot of Mount Diablo on November 4th.
