MANUSCRIPT POEM - [In Memorium] A 10 line poem

1797. Single slip of paper, 95 x150 mm. This item may have at some time been mounted and will bear traces on the reverse of adhesive or removal of mounts. An affectionate and sentimental poem: "Her manners simple, void of Pride and Art! Her Speech, the mild effusion of Her Heart! Kind as a Sister! Faithful as a Wife! Yet more the mother graced a well spent Life! Oh lost to son[s?]! Oh Parent ever dear! How long will memory hang upon they Bier! Yet not unblest the Drops, of Sorrow bred, Or fruitless this Memorial of the Dead: Grief soothe its Anguish by the plain river frozen[?] And not a Verse, & not a tear in vain."
