Original pebbled cloth with gilt title on the spine and gilt title and vignette on the front board. Green grained endpapers. = Includes many fine pictures of the building and completion of the Rosetta Barrage, or "Foum el Bahr", the first - late 19th century - attempt to control the flow of the river Nile and the irrigation of the adjacent agricultural land. Other illustrations show the construction, the construction site, and some ancient Egyptian artefacts. Weak traces of damp staining to the top edge, otherwise a very nice, clean copy. Uncommon.
