Ownership inscription of William Porter Lowe of Birmingham dated 1832 on the first blank. Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ Small single volume edition of Butler's satirical poem on the English Civil War. Butler was a staunch Royalist & the poem, published a few years after the Restoration of Charles II was hugely popular. Samuel Butler [ 1613 - 1680 ] author & satirist who was influenced freely by Cervantes & Rabelais.
