John Stokes at the London Monitor Office, [1814] Single sheet, 430 x 265. Very Good. In the words of the official announcement "August 1st (1814) is the day fixed for the Grand National Jubilee, being the centenary of the accession of the illustrious Family of Brunswick to the Throne of this Kingdom and the anniversary of the Battle of the Nile. Hyde Park, in which there will be a Grand Fair is entirely open to the People. The Green Park will also be entirely open to the People. The Mall of St. James's Park and Constitution-hill will also be open to the people, to enter by Spring Gardens, and the New Street Gates. The Lawn in St. James's Park and the Bird-cage-walk, will be devoted to those who have purchased tickets." Officially also "in commemoration of a General Peace" at the end of the Napoleonic Wars, which in fact did not actually end until the following year following Napoleon's escape from Elba and final defeat at Waterloo.
