MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT - Report of the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee on Charing Cross BridgeLondon, HMSO 1936 12pp, bw map. 34x21, stapled card wraps Wraps slightly browned, some light creasing, good thus. Rare. A report to the Minister of Transport, Leslie Hore-Belisha, on the ongoing saga of the Charing Cross Bridge - in reality a debate about road traffic 'improvements' in the vicinity of the station. Earlier efforts had proposed moving the station to the south side of the river, and creating grandiose boulevards and road bridges for cars. This report proposed a new road bridge alongside the existing railway bridge, with major gyratories by Waterloo and Charing Cross stations. Like its predecessors it was never built.
