McWILLIAM Robert - An Essay on the Origin and Operation of the Dry Rot with a view to it's [sic] prevention or cure. To which are annexed, suggestions on the cultivation of forest trees, and an abstract of the several forest laws from the reign of Canute to the present time.

London, J Taylor 1818 xx, 420pp, 3 plates 28x22, half bound over marbled boards, five bands with glt text on spine. Front board worn with marbling missing from a substantial part, edges rubbed and worn, pages cockled throughout, but otherwise reasonably clean. McWilliam's work explores possible treatments for dry rot, and also makes an extensive plea for the planting and cultivation of more and better supplies of timber in the light of disappearing forests as the industrial revolution took off.
