HAMILTON Alec - Charles Spooner: Arts and Crafts Architect

Donington, Shaun Tyas 2012 xiv, 306pp, 277 illustrations 26x20, red cloth, illustrated dw. Near fine. Spooner was heralded by Ashbee as one of the most important figures in the Arts and Crafts movement, but probably the least known. A furniture designer and architect of churches, his very best work was when he brought the two together in his work on church furnishings such as the rood screen at St Anselm's at Hatch End. An overdue study of a figure who deserves to be better known.
