Fisher, John S. (1867-1940). American politician who served as the 29th Governor of Pennsylvania from 1927 to 1931. - Signature on a Card with the Governor's Seal.

[Harrisburg, PA]: circa [1930]. [1930]. - A 1-3/4 inch high by 3-3/8 inch wide card with the Governor's seal printed in gilt at top left is boldly signed "John S. Fisher". There is some very light soiling to the verso. Fine.

John S. Fisher [1867-1940] served as a Pennsylvania State Senator, as a member of the state's Commission on Constitutional Reform and from 1919 to 1922 as State Commissioner of Banking under Governor William Cameron Sproul. In 1926 he was elected the 29th Governor of Pennsylvania [1927-1931]. As governor Fisher focused on fiscal policy, public works and conservation. Nicknamed "The Builder", he initiated major investment in public works, most notably the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Bridge. During his administration nearly 500,000 acres were added to Pennsylvania's state forests. Fine .
