Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ Compehensive & detailed annual report of the Mississippi River Commission, which was formed in 1879 to promote better navigation of the Mississippi & prevent flooding. The report consists mainly of hydrographic data and bore hole findings. There are 9 maps of the river, mainly in the Memphis area. The 11 missing plates ( which were never bound in ) concern an appendix dealing with flow rates on the river & would seem to have shown pictorial representations of the results.
