Although Hamlin himself managed to stay out of the hands of the authorities, this did not apply to part of the crews of the Trompeuse and the Resolution. Various groups were brought to justice in Suriname and on St. Thomas. The collection of interrogations of crew members included in this book makes much clear about the background of the pirates, the life on board these ships and how these pirates determined their strategy and field of operation.
