The spine & extremities are darkened & there is very light dampstaining to the bottom corners of the covers. There are 2 small pieces out of the cloth of the front joint near the tail of the spine. The dust jacket is darkened, chipped & dampstained with soiling to the rear panel & small pieces out near the tail of the spine. xxxi & 336 pages. Black-and-white illustrations. The bottom edge & the lower end of the fore-edge are dampstained with light dampstaining to the bottom corners of the leaves. Good only.

First printing of this new edition. Originally published in 1906 [Howes L-526].

Inscribed by Don Russell to Civil War bibliographer Charles Dornbusch on the front endpaper: "To Charles E. Dornbusch / Our interests parallel so closely that I know you will value our old friend in his spang-new uniform and accouterments as much as I do / Don Russell / May 4, 1965". Good .
