Gunn, James - Deadlier Than the Male

 1563365855,
New York, Duell, Sloan and Pearce, 1942. First Edition, Very uncommon rare first mystery book by the author, James Gunn. Some sunning to the edges. The dust jacket which was designed by Arthur Hawkins has some trace of wear and a few nicks on the top and bottom heel. Unclipped dustjacket with the price of $2.50. Damp stains to the top and bottom of the red cloth boards at the spine. Still a very good and rare copy. This important story was the basis for the film BORN TO KILL, produced in 1947, in the genre of "film noir" and began the directing debut of Robert Wise in the first of a number of "film noir" movies. which had been previously associated with Orson Wells and then with Val Lewton - RKO group. this leads to the interesting speculation that RKO developed the quintessential "Film Noir" style of the 1940s do to a unique synthesizing of their stylistic contributions. The film was rereleased in French "Corps et biens" in 1986 directed by Benoît Jacquot. The perfect edition for the "Film Noir Movie Buff.
