 1563365808,
London, Chatto & Windus / The Hogarth Press, 1984. 1st Edition. 1st Edition. by author. First Edition 8vo up to 9½" tall. 181pp. A fine copy in green cloth, gilt titles to the spine in a fine unclipped pictorial dustwrapper portraying a compelling illustration by the author/artist Angelica Garnett. Inscribed " For Paul Hezzall-Moody with best wishes Angelica Garnett, October 30,1998" Angelica was a painter and writer and came from a long list of creative individuals. Her aunt was the celebrated writer, Virginia Woolf, her mother, the painter Vanessa Bell, and her father Duncan Grant. Many years Angelica believed herself, naturally enough, the daughter of Vanessa's husband Clive Bell. She only found this out when she was 17 and was told not to tell. Her siblings were Julian and Quentin. She struggled with this deception her whole lifetime. She came from one of the most celebrated families of that period. This influential circle of artists, writers and intellectuals known as the Bloomsbury group included Leonard and Virginia Woolf, Roger Fry, the Stracheys, Maynard Keynes, David Garnett (whom she later married), and many others. .
