I from 1806 was re-issued with a new title-page in the same year as vol. II appeared ("Titelauflage"). After J. J. Bodmer in the 18th century failed to realize his plan to create a separate "Zürcherisches Idiotikon", Franz Joseph Stalder (1757-1833), a priest, philologist and canon in Beromünster produced this first Swissgerman dictionary.
