This third edition is augmented by eleven songs, however, with less introductory text. The themes are historical, many poems refer to important battles, memorable events, or famous figures such as Wilhelm Tell, Niklaus von Flüe, a.o., testifying to Lavater's patriotic fervor. The figured title (after S. H. Grimm or Salomon Gessner) shows the oath of the three first confederates, and the hat of bailiff Gessler.
