NOBUKAZU Watanabe ( 1874 - 1944 ) : - Album with coloured woodcut illustrations.

Album with 2 x 30 full page coloured woodcuts, page size 35 x 23 cm, some of the subjects occupy 2 pages and even three ( triptych). Album bound in cloth, Japanese style (Leporello). Very well preserved, with title label on front cover. Nobukazu (Watanabe Nobukazu). Printmaker, pupil of Toyohara Chikanobu, portrayed the Sino-Japanse war of 1894-1895. (Roberts Dictionary of Japanese Artists, pp. 121). (Greatly influenced by Chikanobu, especially in his woman and children pasttime series). Newly invented aniline dyes known as the colours of progress. .
