In the 14th and 15th centuries, when Muscovy took over, the kholopstvo mostly merged with Russian serfdom. The author expresses his happiness that his work appears at the very time when the sublime armies of the peoples of the Soviet-Union heroically fend off the treacherous attack by the enemies of the Motherland, under the brilliant guidance of Marshal Stalin; he cannot but have been aware that under the very same rule slavery in Russia had reached historically unprecendented levels.
