 1549390263,
[Paris], Imprimerie Union, [1943]. 34 x 25 cm. Original folding wrappers. (8) p., 6 lvs with tipped-in color plates. One smaller b/w plate on title page. Printed in 300 numbered copies. This is nr. 101, the first of the copies without an original lithograph (101-300). 1st edition. Cover somewhat worn and with a greyish stain at top right. Text pages have some humidity staining. With a dedication in pencil on the title page by the author to 'Monsieur D.C. Roëll/ avec mes salutations sincères'. David Roëll was (from 1945) director of the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum. Shortly after this book was published by the Imprimerie Union (founded by two Parisian Russians) an exhibition of works by Domela and Kandinsky was held at Galerie l’Esquisse à Paris in 1944. Wonderful modern works in excellent reproductions - in the middle of the Nazi occupation of Paris. The introduction by Kandinsky was his last publication, he died in December 1944. See for the importance of this book also the recent article by Ankie de Jongh-Vermeulen in 'Rode Haring' 8 (May 2023).
