Good quality machine-made paper. Landscape format. Paper measures 172 x 212 mm. Drawing 113 x 181 mm. Two colors: grey and sepia. About 1852. Some vague creasing at the corners, otherwise in fine condition. The attractive two-tinted drawing echoes the famous engraving by W.H. Bartlett (1835), that was published in 1852 in a Dutch illustrated magazine, De Tijd ('Time'), and carries the same caption in Dutch: 'De Schuylkill waterwerken te Philadelphia'. The drawing probably dates from a little after this.
