Finely engraved title with authors portrait in medallion. Full original vellum. A strong Anti-Papist Satire. [Marnix v.St. Aldegonde1540 - 1598), counsellor of Prince William of Orange, diplomat and influential leader during the Dutch war-of-independence against the Spaniards, was also an important writer and Theologian. (Marnix was one of the first and greatest representatives of militant Calvinism, one of the best Dutch writers of the sixteenth century, a typical forerunner of later Humanism( (A. Elkan in NBW I, 1312). Apart for a diminishing dampstain at lower half, and right hand margin of pages, a fine copy of an important book. Good/No Jacket.
