In opposite of the title page is written: “G.D. Cadomi 1825” and on title page: “Pour le Guilinel la Roulel piêtre.” Engraved title page. Very beautiful state.Annotated Elzevier edition of the little that has been preserved of the works of the Roman scholar Suetonius (ca. 75 – 150 AC). This edition covers his ‘De vita Caesarum’ (the life of the emperors) in which he describes the lives of 12 Roman emperors, beginning with “almost emperor” Julius Caesar and ending with Dominitianus. After this part are some excerpts from ‘De viris illustratibus' (Famous men) with short biographies of grammarians and poets. Beautiful “pocket edition” printed in a legible font by Louis Elzevier. This is one of the so-called “variorum-edition,” classical publications with a selection of already existing comments next to the text. Of these editions Elzevier published 27 versions.
