WINTER, Lumen M. (1908-82) - Signed Postal Cover

This renowned muralist created many pieces for the WPA in post offices and public schools; he was also a versatile sculptor and painter. Signed Postal Cover, 6½" X 3½", n.p. n.y. Single 3-cent "Labor Day" stamp at upper right. At lower left, in black fineline, Winter signs quite large and bold. NOT a First Day Cover, but a choice example of this mural/mosaic created by Winter for the AFL-CIO headquarters in Washington, DC. Small portion of original transmittal envelope also present. .
