De Chateauroux found herself instantly dismissed when Louis XV thought that he had fallen seriously ill and would soon have to respond for his behaviour at the heavenly court. When he recovered she was re-installed, however, she died herself, to be soon replaced in the king’s attention by Mme. De Pompadour.
