Kaufmann, Thomas Dacosta - Central European Drawings in the Collection of the Crocker Art Museum

Belgium, Harvey Miller Publishers, 2004. This is a black, clothbound hardback book with a gilted title on the spine and a small relief design on the front cover. Covered by a red dustjacket that shows an illustration on the front, and has yellow and white text on the front and the spine. The back inside flap has an image of the Crocker Art Museum. Pages: (vi), vii-xxvi, (22), (2), 3-308. 24 color plates at the beginning of the book; the rest is profusely illustrated with black-and-white images. Five centuries of drawing in Central Europe are surveyed in this interpretive and fully illustrated catalogue featuring one of the oldest public collections in the United States. Included are the works of well-known masters Albrecht Durer, Johan Rottenhammer, and Johan Georg von Dillis, artists whose production influenced successive generations. This catalogue also offers a unique look at rare sheets by important figures such as Karel Skreta, Wenzel Hollar, and Johann Holzer. Overall, Thomas DaCosta Kaufmann's achievement is realized in bringing this important collection of Old Master drawings from Central Europe together in a beautiful volume sure to provide an invaluable resource to scholars, connoisseurs, and art enthusiasts alike. VG+: A book in excellent condition, with clean and readable pages. Looks like it was never taken off the shelf. A few scratch marks beneath the title on the cover, but no tears or rips. A small section of the bottom front left corner is creased.

Books are sold net plus a min. $7.99 s&h. Typically, my books are heavier or larger than standard books, and most orders ship at cost + $4 for handling and supplies. I use the United States Post Office for all my shipping. I extend 10% trade discount.

I accept cash, money orders, PAYPAL, VISA, Mastercard, Discover as methods of payment. I also trade on occasion. I am able to extend credit to those institutions which desire to sell or trade duplicates and discards but are not allowed or able to accept cash payments for such material.

Books may be returned if not as described providing they enter the return mail-stream within seven (7) days of arrival and rejection by the customer. Booklets 16 pages and less are not returnable for any reason. Books returned to me outside of these conditions will not be refunded and will not be returned to the original purchaser until the same s&h charges that were originally charged are paid again to facilitate such return. This has only been an issues three times in 19 years, however.

Also, I maintain want lists in these areas, and conduct searches for any title my customers seek, whether in my field of expertise of not. I buy and sell collections and libraries of books in the topic areas listed above and offer collection development service. Books are available for viewing by appointment.
