A Journal of Alternative Sexualities in Ancient and Modern Literature and the Arts is a new international journal designed to foster debate on artistic engagements with theories and practices of sexual non-conformity. While we are aware that artistic codes involve specific technical and sectoral skills, the decision to open a new space for debate was determined by a broader philosophical assumption. The geographies of the imaginary, which take shape in the spheres of literature, arts and the media, enact a performative negotiation of cultural models that allows us to access changing cultural, historical and theoretical debates around sexuality. Our title, Non, underlines our desire to challenge current perspectives, and to take a resolute stand of refusal when it comes to defining a normative sexuality. Instead, we welcome the ideas on which the arts and artists have focused. Alternative sexualities are therefore not only what are firmly established as minority identities, but also theories and practices in which sexuality is structurally incompatible with the coordinates of cultural systems. In other words, we are interested in all sexual theories and artistic practices that reject and rewrite normative dichotomies, and that in doing so question the rigidity of category-based social systems.The journal welcomes the widest array of studies on the question of alternative sexualities: the debate is open to historical investigations of literature and the arts, to psychoanalysis, thematic criticism, and the many branches of queer theory. The journal also aims to challenge the boundaries imposed by traditional divisions of knowledge in terms both of history and of geography; hence, to bring together perspectives on artistic forms from antiquity to the 21st century, and diverse cultural traditions. -- Publisher's Website. Books are sold net plus a min. $7.99 s&h. Typically, my books are heavier or larger than standard books, and most orders ship at cost + $4 for handling and supplies. I use the United States Post Office for all my shipping. I extend 10% trade discount.

I accept cash, money orders, PAYPAL, VISA, Mastercard, Discover as methods of payment. I also trade on occasion. I am able to extend credit to those institutions which desire to sell or trade duplicates and discards but are not allowed or able to accept cash payments for such material.

Books may be returned if not as described providing they enter the return mail-stream within seven (7) days of arrival and rejection by the customer. Booklets 16 pages and less are not returnable for any reason. Books returned to me outside of these conditions will not be refunded and will not be returned to the original purchaser until the same s&h charges that were originally charged are paid again to facilitate such return. This has only been an issues three times in 19 years, however.

Also, I maintain want lists in these areas, and conduct searches for any title my customers seek, whether in my field of expertise of not. I buy and sell collections and libraries of books in the topic areas listed above and offer collection development service. Books are available for viewing by appointment.
