Large and heavy portfolios. Text is in Dutch. This is part one of a five volume set detailing the 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist Temple structure located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. This volume compromises descriptions of the archaeological drawings in the first two portfolio volumes of plates, which contain a total of appx 440 plates in 13 fascicules between the two portfolios. Each portfolio has two cloth ties and a title-page, followed by one or two sheets containing an enumeration of the contents of each fascicule. 200 copies of this edition have been printed, numbered 1-200, of which Nos. 1-35 are not intended for trade. This is number 84, while the plate volumes are No. 171. It should be noted that there are also 82 pages of additional archaeological notes and essay contained at the end of Volume 2, which is primarily devoted to the Architecture. These two large portfolios of appx 440 plates depicting the complete series of reliefs and Buddha images. Approximate shipping weight for this set of three publications is 80 pounds.
