OHMAN, Nina - Moderna Museet Modern Museum Stockholm

Scala Books, 1998. 25 x 21 cm, 160 pages, 75 colour illustrations, 35 ill. in b/w, hard cover and dust jacket. Text in English. With an introduction by David Elliott. New copy ¶ The Moderna Museet, Sweden's principal museum of national and international modern art, was first opened in 1958. Since then its collection has been steadily built up into one of the world's finest, and consequently, it outgrew its original premises. This guide was published to coincide with the opening of the new purpose-built gallery, designed by Rafael Moneo, and contains extended commentaries and full-page colour illustrations of over 75 key works from the museum's permanent collections. An introductory essay and illustrated chronology charts the colourful history of Moderna Muset and the progress of the new building. From the early 1960s the Museum has had an illustrious history of special exhibitions highlighting such movements as Kinetic Art, American Pop Art and Post-Modernism, as well as the work of brilliant individuals such as Paul Klee, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol and Bill Viola.
