Spire, C. - Contribution à l'étude des Apocynées; en particulier des lianes Indo-Chinoises.

Paris, Augustin Challamel, 1905. 8vo (25.2 x 16.4 cm). 193 pp., 36 plates. original printed wrappers. = A well-illustrated monograph on liana by the French botanist Camille Spire (1871-1932). It deals in particular with Apocynaceae (from Apocynum, Greek for "dog-away") ""a family of flowering plants that includes trees, shrubs, herbs, stem succulents, and vines, commonly known as the dogbane family, because some taxa were used as dog poison. Many species are tall trees found in tropical forests. (Wikipedia). This is the author's thesis. Uncut. Wrappers a bit frayed at edges; spine ends chipped; otherwise a very good, unmarked copy. Rare.
