DEMING, THERESE O. - Little Eagle - a Story of Indian Life

Chicago: Albert Whitman and Co, 1931. First Edition. Hardcover. Illustrated by Deming, Edwin W.. 96 pages. The lovely and uncommon story "... of an Indian baby and his early childhood days. Told in in such a way as to be read by first-grade children... Readers will acquire a knowledge of Indian traditions, religion, and culture, and a better understanding of the people whom the European explorers found in North America." - from Introduction. Wonderful bright colour illustrations upon each page. Above-average wear. Former school library copy with usual markings inside but none to exterior. Although well-worn, this remains a decent copy of this delightful work. (Incidentally, this book would probably be banned from today's politically-correct schools as its external artwork includes what later became better-know as swastikas at each end of spine and in lower right corner of front board.); 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall; Little Eagle - A Story of Indian Life Series.
