Conringius, H. - De calido innato sive igne animali. Liber unus.

Helmstadt, Martin Richter, 1647. Small 4to (19.1 x 15.4 cm). Title page with engraved vignette, [vi], 263 pp., and [xiv] pp. of addenda. Period style half calf over marbled boards. Spine with five raised bands and black morocco label with gilt title. Later flyleaves. = This rare work by the German polymath Hermann Conring (1606-1681) deals with the origin and nature of animal heath. It is divided in 24 chapters and comments on the classic authors such as Hippocrates, Aristoteles, and Plato. Conring also "made significant contributions to the study of medicine, politics and law" (Wikipedia). The addendum in the end is titled "Hermanni Conringii de Calido innato. Disputatio publice habita X Novembr 1627 Lugdini Batavorum (Leiden). This seems to be a publicly defended precursor of the main text. Small marginal inscription on the title page. Last page browned at edges, otgherwise a very good copy.
