. A large folding map (70 x 60.5 cm) printed in colours covering the middle part of Japan (from Tsu in Mie prefecture to Ishinomaki in Miyagi prefecture). A detailed map printed in Japanese, towns also printed in English. Some small repairs on verso, nicely done. Housed in original printed folder with a tie, lightly rubbed. Overall a very attractive and easily accessible map done for tourists. Price on the cover in red was 30 sen (!) in 1887. Edited by Sakai Sutehiko of an ex-samurai family of the Mito clan.
