Very nice copy with wide margins and printed on thick laid paper. First edition of this philosophical treatise on the faculties of the soul; imagination, intelligence, desire and moral feeling. Hemsterhuis, born in Franeker (Friesland) is considered a precursor to Novalis, Schiller and Schlegel. The author was himself a bibliophile, the original editions of his works were printed in small numbers and with the highest typographical care by the The Hague printer Ch.W.F.Dumas. .
