Author Hafiz Ahmed Hassan was in the service of the Nawab (governor) of Tonk, a small kingdom in present-day Rajastan. The account begins with a description of the Tonk state, the administration and political intrigues. In 1870 the Nawab made a pilgrimage to Mecca and Hassan accompanied him. The journey starts from Bombay and continues via Aden and Jedda before reaching Mecca and Medina. Contains interesting information about Mecca and the Haji proceedings at this time.
