It was written in the Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279). Hopkins provides an introduction to the principles of Chinese character formation and the arrangement of "Liu shu ku", further explaining the relationship between sound, form and meaning. Includes a long introduction by Hopkins with references to other Western sinologists and their ideas about "Liu Shu ku". Lionel Charles Hopkins was a British Sinologist who lived in China between 1871 and 1908.Provenance: Walter Perceval Yetts (1878-1957), a British surgeon and sinologist.
