Giulio Valli (1875-1949) oltre a seguire la carriera militare nella Regia Marina, fu tra i primi in Italia a vedere le potenzialità della nuova arma aerea, dando grande impulso alla nascita della Aeronautica Italiana. Nel periodo della grande guerra 1915-1918 ebbe modo di sperimentare dai dirigibili, o aereomobili, agli idrovolanti con il supporto delle prime portaerei, all?uso dei MAS e delle motosiluranti.
