Pesanti restauri alla brossura (in particolar modo al dorso), al margine esterno di pagina 205 e a quello inferiore di pagina 303; uno strappetto senza perdite tra le pagine 7 e 8, piccola mancanza senza perdite all?angolo superiore delle pagine 67-70. Lievi tracce del tempo ma nel complesso ottime condizioni interne. Prima edizione (quinto migliaio) in un unico volume, originariamente pubblicato a puntate sulla rivista Nuova Antologia tra luglio e dicembre 1880. Luigi Capuana fu, insieme a Giovanni Verga, uno dei maestri del Verismo italiano.
