Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. list of illustrations, preface, acknowledgements, notes and explanations. The text is illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographs and illustrations throughout the book. Tan coloured cloth binding with black decoration and Education Department seal with black titles to the front panel and black titles to the backstrip. Book 8 in the Victorian Readers series. Bumping and rubbing with slight fraying of the cloth to the backstrip edges and bumping and rubbing to the book corners. A few marks to the rear book panel. Light browning of the text block edges and a previous owner has written the word "reader", in blue ink, on the front fore text block edge. Browning, offset tanning and the remnants of tape can be seen to the endpapers. Previous owner's name to the top edge of the free front end paper and on the rear paste-down the stamp "Not Negotiable" has been placed in red ink. Some underlining of the internal text is also a noted. Though this book says it is a second edition -- it is a later printing as it does not have a publication date, 1929, and the actual title page is different from the first printing of the book as the title page states "The Victorian Readers" and not "The Victorian Reading-Books" -- as is on the true 1929 edition.
