Peter Maxwell Davies - FRANCIS OF ASSISI. Working Libretto..London, Chester Music, 1988. Dattiloscritto (30 cm) di 59 pagine, in lingua inglese. Copertine in cartoncino con titolo applicato al piatto. Titolo interno: “Working Libretto by Peter Maxwell Davies. FRANCIS OF ASSISI. September 1988. Opera in Two Acts with Interval”. In realtà la parte cantata dell'opera non venne mai eseguita. The work was commissioned by the Philharmonia Orchestra for its then principal trumpeter John Wallace. It was given its world premiere by Wallace and the Philharmonia Orchestra under the conductor Giuseppe Sinopoli in Hiroshima on 21 September 1988. Parts of the music are derived from the medieval plainsong Franciscus pauper et humilis, commonly associated with the Roman Catholic friar Francis of Assisi about whom Davies had intended to compose an unrealized opera.
