East Village Other was an underground newspaper from New York (duh), known for its early embrace of the counterculture and counterculture aesthetics, often using absurdist pieces to provide social commentary. As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb (not in this issue) and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix. This issue with a front cover comix by Gilbert Shelton humorously depicting the "Legendary Great Dope Famine of '69;" Allen Katzman discusses the murder of Sharon Tate and others, suggesting William 'Billy' Doyle may be one of the killers (not accurate) and musing on the connections to drugs, with no hint that these killings were to be linked to Charles Manson; another piece hippily reflects on Woodstock; a centerfold also reflects psychedelic sensibilities; along with the usual movement, music, drug and counterculture musings, etc. With a full page comix by Spain Rodriguez. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning. A few small tears and creases along the fore edge. A few faint spots of staining. Mailing label on the upper front cover. Good .

Wherever possible, we ship using first class international for $25.00, or the flat rate priority envelope through the US Post which costs $35.00. Return policy:
Any book may be returned within 30 days of receipt for refund of book price. Buyer responsible for return shipping. For books misdescribed, or for wrong books sent, or any other errors on our part, we will refund book price plus return cost of shipping.
